How to Find Biblical Answers to Life's Big Questions

What questions do you have about life and faith? If you’re like most people, you’ve got a number of pressing questions about life—we all do! But finding Biblical answers to life’s tough questions can be difficult, especially when you want the answers right away.

The quick search

Imagine that this morning, a friend told you some shocking news that caused your day to take a turn for the worst. You find yourself angry at this person just for telling you, but feel like your anger may not be justified. How do you know?

Most people start with a Google search by typing in the word, “Anger.” What shows up is a combination of self-help articles from Psychology Today, Wikipedia, and the American Psychological Association. Not exactly the Biblical answers you had in mind.

With Logos Cloud, you get unparalleled Biblical answers to all of life’s questions—no matter how difficult—with a simple GO Box search. Let me show you exactly how I get Biblical answers to my most pressing questions using the GO Box in Logos Cloud.

The better biblical search

Logos Cloud is the best way to find out if your anger is justified. After you open Logos Cloud, simply mouse over to the GO Box (right next to the Logos Bible Software logo), type in “Anger” and press enter.

As you can see below, Logos Cloud opened up Proverbs 29:22, which says, “A man of wrath stirs up strife, and one given to anger causes much transgression.”

In the bottom right pane, Logos Cloud opened up the Baker Encyclopedia of the Bible (BEB) for reference. It’s telling me that anger is “The word normally used in the Bible to refer to an emotion considered sinful.” As we continue, we’ll find a practical example from Psalm 37:8 that is very applicable.

The BEB continues, “Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath!” Jesus paralleled anger with murder when he said that “every one who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment” (Mt 5:22) just as if he had actually committed the murder he felt in his angry heart.”

Continue reading into the next paragraph as it explains, “Anger of a good sort is also spoken of in the Bible. Righteous indignation refers to the extreme displeasure of a holy heart unable to tolerate sin of any kind.”

You’re free to continue exploring the idea of “anger” even further by reading the Evangelical Dictionary of Biblical Theology (EDBT) which is the tab right next to Easton’s Bible Dictionary. But, from this simple reading, it appears we’ve found our answer.

The anger you are feeling this afternoon isn’t, “the extreme displeasure of a holy heart unable to tolerate sin.” In reality, it’s that you’re feeling the emotion of being angry with your brother in Christ. Wow, even a big question like that can be found simply with a GO Box search!
