There are two ways to launch your word study in Logos Cloud. You can can start in the Guides menu or get all the information you need right from your English translation. Let’s get started!

Accessing Bible Word Study through the Guides menu

First, let’s access the Bible Word Study tool in your Guides menu. For example, let’s find the various words translated as “oath” in English. To do that, click the Guides menu and choose to open the Bible Word Study guide.

Next, simply enter the word, “oath.”

Instantly, Logos Cloud gives you a definition of the word, “oath” from the Baker Encyclopedia of the Bible, including its theological significance in the english language.

Using the translation ring

After you’ve started searching a word in your Bible Word Study Guide, scroll down to the Greek words section where you can see a colorful round circle called the translation ring. In the translation ring, you can view the original Greek and Hebrew words underlying the English translation as well as the exact spot where each word occurs.

Click a word to see more about its translation. For example, in the New Testament, the most common word for oath is ὅρκος. Click on ὅρκος (see screenshot below) to see every instance where the ESV translates ὅρκος as “oath.”

Accessing Bible Word Study through your preferred Bible

Let me show you how to access the Bible Word Study tool in your preferred Bible. Let’s say you’re studying the famous discourse between Jesus and Nicodemus in John 3, and you wonder why Nicodemus is so confused about the phrase, “born again.” How can you find out what Jesus meant? It’s simple. Right click on the word, “again” to see the context menu.

Instantly, everything Logos Cloud can tell you about the word, “again,” is right in front of your eyes. On the right, you’ll see the different kinds of information available about this word.
